Year 5
Weekly Update - Friday 14th February 2025
Summary of this week:
It is unbelievable to think we are already halfway through Year 5! The children have had a positive week and have enjoyed conducting an experiment in science, where they were testing a range of materials for strength, flexibility, magnetism and conductivity of electricity. It was great to see everyone working well together in small groups to achieve a scientific result.
Our learning after half term:
Maths: We will be adding and subtracting decimals.
English: We will introduce the children to our new model text based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel, Kensuke’s Kingdom. The genre of writing we will be exploring is a balanced argument.
Foundation: In science we will begin our topic of Animals, including humans, in computing we will learn about stop motion animation, in Geography we will begin to find out about ‘Why do oceans matter?’ and in RE we will learn about the idea if ‘rescue’ and why it is important to Christians.
Homework:
Spellings: TBC
Maths: Worksheet
English: Reading at home
