Year 5
Weekly Update - Friday 28th June 2025
Summary of this week:
The obvious highlight of the week is without doubt Thames Young Mariners. The children (and adults!) had a brilliant two days. All the activities were embraced with curiosity and enthusiasm. Everyone was so supportive of one another and super-helpful putting equipment away at the end of each task. Staying overnight added to the excitement, and we all enjoyed a hearty meal followed by games and a talent show. The children who stayed at school had a great time playing team parachute games, swimming and some very creative dragon art.
Our learning next week:
Maths: We will be working on word problems which involve area and perimeter.
English: The children will be writing their own non-chronological reports based on our class text, ‘Dragonology’.
In art we will get creative with our self-portraits, using inspiration from renowned artists, in PSHE will learn about puberty, in geography we will find out about how humans use deserts, in computing we will tinker with CAD and in RE we will investigate how we overcome challenges.
