Reminders:

Victorian day Wednesday 29th January

Victorian Day

This half term, we have been learning about the Victorians as part of our History curriculum. On Wednesday, 29th January 2025, we will be dressing up as Victorians for our Victorian Day at school. The teachers will be dressing up too! Please could all children come dressed as a Victorian child on this day. If you are unable to get a costume for your child, please speak to your child's class teacher.

Year 1 will be exploring what it was like to be a Victorian child at school and will be comparing this to what it is like being an Eastwick child. The teachers will be setting their classrooms up like a Victorian school and will be getting into character. This will allow children to experience what it was like for a Victorian child in preparation for our English lessons.

Please note that the children will not be having PE on this day with the sports coaches. We will move Year 1’s PE lesson just for that week to Thursday, 30th January 2025.

  • Computing- Please could all children bring in an empty Fruit Shoot bottle? If you have more than one, please bring them in, as each child will need one for their Computing lesson by 31.1.25
  • Please ensure all children bring a named coat to school. Children can bring a pair of wellies and leave them in their cloakroom to use, if needed. Please ensure your child comes to school with a water bottle (water only, not squash) and a healthy snack (school fruit is available).
  • Reading record books- Please try and fill in the reading record so we can see how much your child is reading (just the book name and an adult initial). When your child has read these books a minimum of 3 times, they can change their books in class. Please can reading records be brought into school every day.

The weekly spelling books will be sent home on a Monday and need to be returned to school on the following Monday, for new spellings to be added.
