Weekly Update - Friday 12th September 2025

Summary of this week:

What a great start to their school journey the children have made this week!  They have shown such courage, confidence and resilience in their new environment and it has been a wonderful first week of learning together.  The children are learning about one another, the adults around them in Early Years, the new routines and expectations and of course their new classrooms, both inside and outside.  Thank you for your positivity about school which plays such an important part in how the children feel about it. Thank you too for welcoming us into your homes last week.  Those visits really lay the foundation for the trusting relationship that children need to feel exists between home and school.

We are all excited to begin our journey together!

Our learning after half term:

Maths

We will begin to explore the early numbers using numberblocks, number rhymes and songs and exploring ways of representing those numbers using objects.

Literacy

We will be singing nursery rhymes together and reading a range of traditional tales.

Vocabulary

 sitting, looking, listening

Homework:

Ask the children what their favourite part of the day was!

Notices & Reminders:

We are proud of our open-door policy and are always available at the beginning and end of the day for you to pass on any information we need to be aware of.  If you would like to chat in more detail about anything, please email us on yearr@eastwick.thpt.org.uk and we can arrange a time that is convenient to us both.  If you need to let us know that you have given permission for someone else to pick up your child that day, please telephone the school as we may not have the chance to check emails during the school day.

Thank you for sending in wellies and waterproofs.  The children use their wellies every day when we use our outdoor classroom, so please do send in a named pair if you haven’t already done so.  On Wednesday afternoons Mrs L will be leading Forest School sessions and a waterproof paddle suit will keep them warm and dry.  They can be left at school if that’s more convenient.  Please, please label every item of clothing!  We would hate for any of the children’s beautiful new uniform to go missing!

Our family walls are looking great and getting fuller!  Please send a photo to the above address for us to print and add to the wall if you haven’t already done so.

Thank you for the fruit you are sending in for the children to share.  They are really enjoying it – learning is hungry work!

Finally, if you have any feedback about the way we have organised the children’s introduction to Eastwick (Stay and Play’s, home visits, documentation etc), please do let us know either in person or through our email address.  We try hard to make the children’s first experiences as positive as possible and welcome your help in doing so.
