Weekly Update - Friday 25th April 2025
Summary of this week:
Welcome back to the Summer Term! A fun and busy week with our first PE lessons with Coach Jay who was very impressed with the children’s enthusiasm and abilities with throwing and catching. The children also had their first experience of the wonderful Eastwick swimming pool and though there were a few nerves initially, everyone had a wonderful time in the warm water and sunshine with Miss Tearney our swimming instructor and Mrs Dalley.
We have enjoyed finding out a little about life in the 1940s through the text Peepo and are looking forward to trying to spot some of the things we learned about at The Rural Life Museum next Tuesday.
Our learning after half term:
MakMakaton signs: museum and coach Talk for writing book: Window by Jeannie Baker Song of the week: We’ll Meet Again! |
Homework:
Talk to the children about the school trip to help them to feel comfortable about the new experience.
Notices & Reminders:
Thank you for your support this week by making sure that on PE and swimming days the children arrived at school on time at 8:45 so we could prepare them (toilet runs etc) before heading to our lessons. It really made a difference!
On Tuesday, it’s also really important that everyone is on time so that we are ready to go to the coach as soon as possible and make the most of our day out! Thanks in advance for your help with this.
The children should come into school in their uniforms as usual. The forecast is for warm, sunny weather and we will be outside, so please apply sunscreen before the children come into school and if you would like the children to apply more during the day, please send in a named bottle. The children will be carrying their things so a small one would be a good idea and we find that the roll -ones are easiest for the children to apply. We are not permitted to apply sunscreen to the children but will obviously help where we can. A named sun hat will also help to keep them safe and we will ensure that children can replenish their water bottles if they need to.
Our reading days are changing over the next few weeks because of Bank Holidays and the school trip. Please make sure that books and reading records are in school bags every day so that the children are prepared. Thank you
