Reception
Weekly Update - Friday 27th June 2025
Summary of this week:
We have been busy editing our stories of Jack and the Beanstalk and between us all have thought of lots of exciting ideas to change the characters and the destinations at the top of the beanstalk! We let our imaginations run wild and it has been lots of fun telling the stories!
Our outdoor classroom is looking great in the sunshine and the children have been applying their learning about growth and change to caring for the seedlings we planted a few weeks ago; watering them and watching them change. We have radishes, peas and beans as well as the sunflowers which are growing beautifully outside our sunny classroom doors!
The children LOVED looking at their baby photos and those of their friends and had so much fun looking for clues to work out who was who and talking about the changes they could see. Thank you for sending them in
Our learning after half term:
Makaton signs: boy and girl Show and Tell theme: Draw a picture of and talk about their favourite thing to do in Reception so that we can share with their Year 1 teachers. If you want to send in photos for us to print, could you let us have them by the afternoon of the day before to make sure we have seen the email and had time to print them off? Thank you. Song of the week: Portside Pirate and Dance Like a Pirate
Makaton signs: pirate, ship |
Homework:
Use your hands or feet to measure something in your house – how long are all the beds in the house? Eg which is the longest and which is the shortest?
Read a few pages of your reading book every day and record it in your reading record.
Notices & Reminders:
A reminder that sun-screen can be sent in for the children to reapply after lunch. Please do apply it before the children come into school as the temperatures look high again next week.
Move Up Day is next Tuesday 1st July so there will be no PE on that day. Please send the children in wearing their normal uniform.
