Reception
Weekly Update - Friday 16th May 2025
Summary of this week:
We have thoroughly enjoyed learning the story Shhhh by Sally Grindley. Sneaking through the animals, trying not to wake the giant has been lots of fun! We have also enjoyed learning the song The Giant’s breakfast. The children have done a brilliant job of learning the Makaton signs for the breakfast foods in the song.
We were so lucky to enjoy swimming in the beautiful sunshine today.
Our learning after half term:
Personal Social Emotional Development (PSED): We will be continuing to learn about friendships and healthy relationships between friends.
Makaton signs: brother, sister, mum and dad. Show and Tell theme: Friendship – using our pictures of our friends to talk about what a good friend looks like.
Song of the week: Ten fat sausages sizzling in a pan
|
Homework:
Draw a picture of a friends either from school or home and write a sentence of key words about why this person is a good friend. We will then use these for our Show and tell this week.
Notices & Reminders:
PE- Tuesdays- The children need to arrive in their PE kit ready to meet coach Dan for a prompt 9 am start.
Swimming- Fridays
On PE and Swimming days please try arrive at school on time at 8:45 so we can prepare the children (toilet runs etc) before heading to our lessons.
Please do send the children in wearing the uniform they are going to wear all day as we seem to be spending a lot of time supporting children who want to change during the day!
Please remember that on hot days you can apply sunscreen before the children come into school and send in a named bottle of sunscreen for the children to apply themselves before they go out to play at lunchtime.
We have had a sort out of our book collection and have put together a box of those that we no longer need. We will put the box outside of the classrooms each morning and afternoon next week and the children are welcome to choose any that they would like to take home and keep.
Next week we will be popping a ‘wish list’ onto the classroom door. If you feel able to donate any of the items, please feel free to sign up next to the given item on the list. We are always happy to take left over or second-hand bits and bobs too. Thank you in advance.
Thanks so much for making sure the children have their reading books in their bags every day. It’s really helping us to keep track of all our precious books!
Don’t forget to send in a bottle of water every day please, as well as a hat.
