Year 3
Weekly Update - Friday 28th March 2025
Summary of this week:
Year 3 have had a fun end to the week with two performances of The Lion King! On Thursday, Year 2 enjoyed watching the show and on Friday morning, Year 5 and 6 watched us too. The teachers and pupils were so impressed with the costumes, acting, loud singing and involvement from all pupils! In Maths, we have started our unit on Time, reading an analogue clock face to the nearest 5 minutes. In English, we have been writing letters to our family members about a disastrous event and in Reading, we have been unpicking a chapter from The Wind In The Willows. We found the character Toad very funny!

Our learning next week:
Maths: We will be continuing our unit on Time, exploring AM, PM and the 24 hour clock.
English: We will be publishing our letters, using our best handwriting and presentation skills. We will also be performing some of our work to our peers, using expression and intonation.
In our Reading lessons, we will be exploring two books: The Missing Piece and The Word Collector.
Foundation:
In Geography, we will be learning about earthquakes and land formation.
In PSHE, we will be understanding safe and unsafe situations.
In PE, we will be learning gymnastics with Mrs Line and netball with Coach Jay.
On Friday, we will engage in some fun, Easter tasks to finish off the half term.
We also look forward to performing our Lion King production to parents and carers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!
Homework
Maths
The Maths homework sheet will be given out on Tuesdays – please could children complete this and hand it in by Friday so teachers can mark, provide feedback and hand back by the following week.
Children are encouraged to use Times Table Rockstars for extra multiplication practise, a few times each week. Little and often is recommended! Logins and passwords are stuck inside the cover of the children’s maths homework books. Teachers will continue to award TTRS certificates on a Friday for those children that are using the website regularly throughout the week and making good progress with their times tables learning! 😊
Spelling
Please continue to practise the weekly spelling words at home in whichever way your child finds most useful.
