Year 3

Weekly Update - Friday26th September 2025

Summary of this week:

This week in Maths we have stared our unit on addition and subtraction. Our focus has been counting in steps of 10s and 100s to add larger numbers together on number lines as well as using a traditional column method.

In English, we have been learning our new model text, The Bad-Tempered Ladybird and learning about different narrative features.

In History, we have looked at the history of Eastwick! We have looked back through time and created our own high quality questions about our school’s past.

In Science, we have been learning about joints and muscles, including taking part in a whole class exercise session!

In RE, we have continued to think about miracles, looking at specific stories of miracles within Christianity.

In Reading, we have carried on familiarising ourselves with different fairy tale stories, breaking down different features of the texts to deepen our understanding.

In PE, we have continued our units on Football and Dance with Coach Jay and Mrs Line.

In D&T, we have learned how to cut food safely with knives using different techniques.

Our learning next week:

In Maths, we will be continuing to learn about column addition, focusing on exchanging across the columns.

In English, we will be planning our own versions of the Bad-Tempered Ladybird.

In Science, we will be starting a new biology unit on diet and nutrition.

In RE, we will continue to learn about Christianity and different stories within the New Testament.

In Reading, we will be learning about playscripts, discussing how they are laid out differently on the page and having a chance to read and perform them ourselves.

In D&T, we will be becoming food taste testers! We will be trying a range of different foods that we may want to use in our upcoming cookery lesson.
