Year 2

Weekly Update - Friday 7th November 2025

A Summary of our learning:

It has been wonderful to see how Year 2 have settled back in after a two-week holiday.

This week we have learnt our new talk story ‘Traction Man’, we have boxed it up into the five parts and learnt about present and past tense.

In Maths, we have learnt the 10 times table and investigated the commutative law linked to the 2,5 and 10 times table.

In Science, we learnt about germs and how to keep our bodies clean and healthy. The children were fascinated to learn about how quickly germs are spread by unwashed hands. Do ask your child/ children about the glitter germs and keep an eye on our investigation which is displayed in the window of Violet Class.

 Our learning next week:

Maths

We start our new unit on division and start off looking at grouping and sharing as ways of dividing. We will also be using the division symbol (÷).

English

We will plan and write the innovate stage of ‘Traction Man, using the correct tense and the five part adventure narrative structure.

Your children will continue to read with an adult in their reading groups. We will inform you when we start to introduce whole class reading lessons.

In History, we will learn about Remembrance Day.

In Science, we start our new unit looking at materials, natural and human made. We will also focus on the different properties of some materials (cardboard).
