Year 2
Weekly Update - Friday 26th September 2025
A Summary of our learning:
Year 2 have had a great week!
In English, we have planned and written our own adventure narratives. Many were coherent and included noun phrases and a range of punctuation.
In Maths, we finished off our unit on adding using different methods, including jottings, partitioning the numbers and the column method. We have also started to explore subtraction and subtracting tens by recognising the relationship to subtracting ones (We know that 5- 2= 3, so we also know that 50 - 20=30).
In Science, we learnt about humans and what our four basic needs are. We also explored how our (humans) needs are the same as fish, birds, amphibians but we meet those needs in different ways.
Our learning next week:
Foundation: In Geography, we will be comparing the UK and Kenya; identifying key similarities and differences. In Art, we will develop our map drawings into simple print designs, making and using printing tiles and exploring how to display the finished artwork. In Computing, we will be designing and explaining an invention with inputs and outputs. In PSHE, we will be listening to other people and contributing our own ideas about rewards and consequences. In Science, we will be learning about being healthy- exercise. In PE, we will be doing Dance and Football with the PE Coaches. |

Please read with your child five times a week and write in their reading record.
Notices & Reminders:
Just a reminder that children should not bring any toys into school, as we don’t want these going missing, or distracting our learning. Thank you for your support with this!
If you provide your child with grapes to consume during the school day, please ensure these are cut in half, length ways to minimise the chocking risk.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Hodgson, Mrs Thornton- Brown, Mrs Harding and Mrs Offer.
