Weekly Update - Friday 6th June 2025

A Summary of our learning:

Welcome to our last half term of year 2! The children were amazing and loved going to the Junior school for the morning on Wednesday. We have bene busy learning our new talk story based on Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett. The children have been learning more about time where they learnt how to find start and end times. In science, the children enjoyed learning about the butterfly’s lifecycle. They adored seeing our very own Eastwick caterpillars who are now in their pupa stage.

Our learning after half term:

English	The children will plan and write their own voyage and return story based on Meerkat Mail.
Spelling (whole class)	Practise homophones- son, sun, two, to, too, hear, here, knight, night, there, their, they’re
Spelling* (Mrs H’s group)	se (cheese) ce (fence) ey (donkey)
Maths	The children will start learning about volume. They will also complete their NTS papers.
Science	The children will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. They will learn that insects have 6 legs, lay eggs and their cycle has different stages (egg, caterpillar, pupa, butterfly).
