Reception
Weekly Update Friday 3rd May 2024
Summary of this week:
What a great day we all had at The Rural Life Museum on Wednesday! It is an amazing place with so much to see and do and we hope that you have heard lots of stories of favourite and memorable parts of the day (not just lunchtime!). The volunteers were very impressed with the children’s knowledge of the past and their enthusiastic participation. It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for a fun family day out for all ages of children. |
Our learning next week:
Maths: In Maths we will be continuing our learning about subitising increasingly complex arrangements and how to use doubles to help with subitising.
Literacy: We will write thank you letters to the staff and volunteers of the Rural Life Museum.
Phonics: We will learn to read words with adjacent consonants and learn the tricky words some, come, love, and do.
Vocabulary: letter, address. doubles, camera, photographs
|
Homework:
Maths: Play games with one or two dice. Can the children recognise the number of dots immediately? Can they recall the doubles/.
Literacy: Write a simple letter to say thank you for something.
Vocabulary: Try to incorporate some of the week’s vocabulary into your conversations with the children. |
Notices & Reminders:
Our class photographs will be taken on Thursday morning.
Please do have a look at home for any of the school reading books which need returning. We are particularly keen to find our reading programme books which have the Harper Collins publishing logo and and the name ‘Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised’. If books go missing from our packs of six it means that we can’t use that set until they have been located which then reduces the sets available for the children to read. Please have a look under the bed, behind the couch or in the car and if you find any books, pop them into the children’s book bags for return. Thank you very much to those parents who have already had a good look and returned books. It’s much appreciated!
Orange and Yellow Class children are particularly peckish after their Friday swim and if it’s possible to send in any additional snacks (breadsticks, rice cakes etc) that we can keep to give them it would be great. Luckily for Red Class, they go to lunch straight after their swim!
